Stacie L. Stein
- May 19, 2022
Stacie L. Stein, age 47, of New Philadelphia, passed away following a courageous five-month battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in Aultman Hospital at Canton.
A daughter of Charlene Kehl of Newcomerstown and the late Donnie Kehl, Stacie was born on August 14, 1974, in Union Hospital at Dover.
She was a 1992 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and furthered her education at Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus. For the past 14 years, Stacie has been the Administrative Assistant for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District at New Philadelphia.
To describe Stacie, one would be remiss not to notice her infectious smile, her love of fashion and clothing, beautiful nails, her passion of music, especially local entertainers like Rolando and Ed Kilpatrick, and the joy she spread among her friends and others during various get-togethers. Family time was very important to her as well, as she loved hosting holiday gatherings. Another passion of Stacie’s was her love of movies, often sneaking off to attend Sunday matinees with her longtime friend, Carrie Jackson or reciting lines from films with her brother, Chris as part of their friendly banter.
Stacie’s love for “The Girls” was like none other. The group of classmates have stuck together for nearly 40 years! This group of ladies, Tonya Tristano, Shelley Cline, Brandi Ramey, Rhonda Dalia, Michelle Garretson, Molly Lahmers and Gabby Styer, were like sisters and were there for each other through the highs and lows in their lives. Stacie loved every moment they could be together. Every now and then they would let the guys tag along including Craig Stein, Mel Lahmers, Kevin Ramey, Jeremy Guy, Dennis Cline, Jason Garretson, Mattie Dalia and Travis Tristano.
In addition to her mother, Stacie is survived by her husband, Craig Stein, whom she married on May 1, 2004; her siblings, Michael (Julie) Kehl of Newcomerstown, and Susan Mitchell of Port Washington; her grandmother, June Pool of Uhrichsville; her mother-in-law, Kathy Stein; a brother-in-law, Shane Stein both of Columbus, and a sister-in-law, Crystal (John) Kuhn of McConnelsville.
Completing the family are her nephews and nieces, Mitchell (Ashley) Kehl, Shannon (Nate) Swigert, Jacob Belt, Erica Belt, Paige McGarvey, Megan McGarvey, and Aiden Kehl, numerous great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
In addition to her father, Stacie was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Kehl; her maternal grandfather, Bud Pool; her paternal grandparents, Harry and Glenna Kehl; and her father-in-law, Gary Stein.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. A service celebrating Stacie’s life will be led by Jim Shamel on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 1PM in the Christ United Methodist Church, 648 Oak Street, Newcomerstown, OH 43832. Burial will take place in the West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown. A meal and fellowship will follow in the church’s River of Life Center. Guests attending the visitation or service are asked to wear their favorite purple, lavender or yellow piece of clothing to celebrate Stacie’s love for color and her impeccable eye for fashion and style.
