A lifelong resident of Henderson County, Richard is survived by his wife of 34 years and high school sweetheart, Beverly Parris Henderson. He is also survived by their two well-loved sons, Dawson and Landon Henderson. Richard is survived by his parents, Daniel and Carolyn Henderson, sister, Linda Hooper (Mark), two brothers, Larry Henderson (Vicki) and Jeffery Henderson (Naomi), mother-in-law, Wanda Parris, brother and sister-in-law Jeff and Tammy Glover, and many nieces and nephews including Brandon Hooper, Erica Anders (Daniel Wilson), Ella and Eliza Anders, Whitney Hakala (Mark), Riley Hernandez, Kolby Hakala, Jordan Henderson (Julianna), Taylor and Cole Henderson, Khoen and Kaden Henderson, Ryan and Cadie Henderson, Ashley Glover Brothers (Cody), Will Glover, Ashton Brothers, Amanda Glover (Levi Hall), and Zack Davis (Erica). He is also survived by many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Richard loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. His love for God was demonstrated daily through a content, hard-working, and humble spirit. His contagious smile, kind heart, and patience were admired by all who knew him equally as much as his steady, easy-going personality. It was important to Richard to set an example of dedication, integrity, and honesty to all. He loved and was loved by his work family at Duke Energy for almost 17 years and worked with electrical contractors Harrison and Wright and Pike for many years prior. Work was his passion and pastime, only second to his family. Richard’s wife and two boys were his pride and joy. He loved to hunt, fish, mow grass, and attend his two kids’ many athletic events more than anything. Although his time with us was short, he lived long, fulfilling days complete with God, family, friends, hard work, and immeasurable contentment.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20th at 11:30am at Zion Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00-11:15am. A committal will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
