Shirley Mae Haight, 82, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on April 11, 1942, in Manchester, the daughter of Donald and Mae (Burns) Miller. Donald passed away when Shirley was one year old, and she was later adopted by Dale Diercksen. Shirley was raised and educated in the Manchester area, graduating from Manchester High School in 1960.

On September 30, 1961, Shirley was united in marriage to Duane “Pinky” Haight at Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville. Four sons were born to this union. Shirley managed the Senior Citizen’s Center in Manchester for 31 years and was known as a great cook and wonderful friend to the seniors.

Shirley was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards with her card club. Shirley enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her many friends and family. Shirley especially enjoyed when family came every Sunday for meals, visits, and games.

Survivors include her four sons, Mark (Lori) Haight of Manchester, Matt Haight of Columbia, MO, James (Celine) Haight and Jason (Stacey) Haight both of Manchester; five grandchildren, Rachel and Clayton Haight, Parker and Spencer Haight, and Kyle Haight; her siblings, Melva (Kenneth) Wenndt of West Des Moines, and Keith (Jody) Diercksen of Lake Winnebago, MO; sisters-in-law, Susan Diercksen of Manchester and Angela Haight of North Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Miller and Mae and Dale Diercksen; her husband of 60 years, Duane Haight; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Haight; her brother, Larry Diercksen; and her brother-in-law, Ronald Haight.

Visitation: 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P. M., Friday, May 24, 2024, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester.

Inurnment: Private family burial at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
