Sheryl Marie Rottink, 60, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sheryl was born on Dec. 8, 1963, in Riceville, Iowa, to Leroy and Katherine (Rhodes) Rottink. She graduated from Riceville Community School in 1982. After graduation, Sheryl earned her Associate Degree from Hamilton Business College in Mason City, Iowa. In 1992 she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. From there she worked for the State of Iowa as an Auditor. In 1999, Sheryl began working at Guaranty Bank & Trust. She was responsible for compliance, BSA and Internal Audit. In 2017 she was promoted to an Assistant Vice President/Compliance Manager for Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust.

Sheryl was always very active in the lives of her daughter Larissa, grandchildren Laiken and Emmett as well as her nieces and nephews, going to many sports events, planning family holidays/adventures, spending much time together collecting many special memories, plus she mentored each as needed.

It was important to Sheryl to give not only to her friends and family, but the Cedar Rapids community. She served as board member and on the finance committee for housing funds for Linn County, delivered Meals on Wheels for Horizons, provided financial education and counseling to students through Workplace Learning Connection and helped Discovery Living with cleanup after the derecho. She worked on special projects from organizing making blankets for Tanager to bake sales to raise money for the Boys and Girls club to purchase Christmas gifts. She always enjoyed helping others. She also made dog treats which all the bankers’ pets loved, including her own (Charlie).

Survivors include her daughter Larissa McClenathan (Kurt Marble & family), and grandchildren Laiken & Emmett Namanny. She is also survived by her significant other John Rahn (& family), mother Kathy (Rhodes) Rottink, sisters Mary Gossen (Christoph), Susan Kempe (Fred Herr), and Nancy Jo Flack (Mike); nieces and nephews Ashen Rottink (Kiersten), Brenden Flack, Clayton Flack, Dane Flack, Gage Flack, Legacy Flack, Roman Gossen and Bennet Gossen. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Les & Vera Rhodes and Paul & Florence Rottink and her father Leroy Rottink.

A Memorial will be held Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, at North Point Bar, 621 Center Point Rd. NE Suite B, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 1 to 5 p.m.
