Sheila was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jan. 3, 1938, to James and Mary Grace (Kehoe) Murray. She grew up in Marion and graduated from Marion High School. She met James Seigel on a blind date while both were employed at Collins Radio and they married April 26, 1958. In addition to raising six children, Sheila worked several places outside the home, including Vince Hatt Tax Service, Sears, First Presbyterian Church, Marion Mixers, St. Matthew Catholic Church and Kingston Hill. She and Jim also owned and operated, with her children during their middle and high school years, the popcorn stand in Marion’s City Square Park. Sheila was a lifelong learner, taking college courses after all her children got their post-secondary degrees.

Her goodness and faith were lived out through her generosity and boundless capacity to care for others, whether through volunteering for Hospice of Mercy, and Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center, caring for elderly family members and neighbors, providing nourishment and comfort with her incomparable cooking and beautiful way with words or being with anyone in need of companionship. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, serving over the years as funeral dinner coordinator, choir member, lector, Eucharistic minister, religious education teacher, parish council member, Sunday collection counter, newsletter writer, stewardship leader and social justice committee chair.

Sheila is survived by six children, Suzanne (Tom) Renner, the Rev. Timothy Seigel, Laura (Mike) Lynch, Jeannine (Pete) Grady, Monica (Gordon) Fischer and David Seigel; 17 grandchildren, Bridget Servatius, Daniel Trainor, Martin Trainor, Damon Trainor, Megan Vesely, Michael Lynch, Erin Lynch, Emily Lynch, E.J. Lynch, Caiden Lynch, Kevin Grady, Molly Grady, Colleen Grady, Theresa Grady, Mary Seigel, Matthew Seigel and Lily Seigel; seven great-grandchildren and two more on the way; three sisters-in-law, Diana Murray, Sally Murray and Barbara Jones; nieces and nephews, Leigh Tigan, Stephanie Thomson, Bobbie Lampe, Bryan Murray, Angie Clark, Justin Murray and Beth Murray; and several special cousins.
