Sandra Joyce Riess

Sandra Joyce Riess, age 82, of Yorkville, IL, passed away at Cedarhurst of Yorkville on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. She was born on April 2, 1939 in Aurora, IL the daughter of William and Mary Ann (Precup) Kauski.

Sandra was united in marriage in November of 1965 to Roger Raymond Riess and they spent the next 38 years happily together, until his passing on September 26, 2003. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Sandra was formerly employed by the City of Aurora, as the secretary for the building permits department.  She was a devoted long time member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Aurora, IL.

She is survived by her son Gregory W. (Natalie) Riess of Oswego, IL; her daughter Mary (Jeffrey) Anderson of Yorkville, IL; her grandchildren, Matthew (Trish) Anderson, Ryan (Lauren) Anderson, Jackie (Travis) Rhinehart, Jordan (Alyssa) Anderson, Patrick Riess, Brandi (Fiance, Jake) Riess, and Brooke Riess; her nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Judith (Michael) Gaylor of Dade City, FL; several nieces and nephews; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Ann Kauski; her husband, Roger Riess; and two infant daughters, Tina Marie and Renee Christine.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL with Father Jerome Leake officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Aurora, IL.

Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the Hour of Service on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sandra’s name may be directed to Alzheimer’s research.
