Sandra Jeanne Thompson, 67, of Cedar Rapids, passed after a long illness at Mercy Medical Center on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Services: Friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, and on Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday June 21, 2025. Graveside burial to follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at Floris Cemetery, Floris, Iowa.
Sandra is survived by her husband of almost 39 years, Marvin; daughter, Casandra Thompson, son, Jake (Amanda) Thompson, sister, Linda (Glenn) McClintic all of Cedar Rapids, Aunt Judy Cooper (Newton) and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosalie and William Hinshaw and brothers, Donald and Timothy Hinshaw.
Sandra was born on May 1, 1958 in Newton, daughter of William and Rosalie Stamper Hinshaw. She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1976. Sandra was a proud veteran, serving from 1980 to 1984 in the U.S. Marine Corps. On June 4, 1986, she married Marvin Thompson in Cedar Rapids. For many years, she worked as a school bus driver for the Cedar Rapids Community School District.
Sandra enjoyed camping, reading and watching movies. She especially loved spending time with her dogs and granddogs. Sandra will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
