Robert K. “Turtle” Beckner

Robert K. “Turtle” Beckner, 63, of Springfield, died at 11:50 am, Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 21, 1957 in Newport, RI to Leonard and Priscilla Furbish Beckner. He married Lisa Nation on November 17, 1993 and she survives.

Also surviving are two children, Taylor Beckner of Auburn and Tanner Beckner of Springfield; one sister, April (Thomas) Sutton of Springfield; one brother, Harold (Karen) Beckner of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Brian Beckner.

He retired from Wyzard Cleaning and had owned and operated Turtles’ Pet Club.

Robert had a great love for his children and animals. He was very knowledgeable about reptiles and would go to the local schools and give reptile shows to educate the children. Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, fishing, turtling, frogging and floating down the river. He loved antiquing and collecting bottles, bean pots and milk jugs.

Family will host a Celebration of Robert’s Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League.
