Rex W. Rowley

Rex W. Rowley, 69, of Sherman, formerly of Assumption, died on Friday, February 26, 2021 at his home. He was born February 2, 1952 in Decatur to his adoptive parents, Wayne and Lois Smith Rowley. He married JoAnn “Jodie” Tarr on June 5, 1998 and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Pam (Louis) Kink of Springfield, Nikki Manning of Key West, FL, Les (Tammy) Seman of Marquette Heights, IL and Pat Seman of Athens; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving dachshund, Heidi.
Rex was a US Army veteran serving in the Panama Canal. He worked in sales and was still involved in farming in the Shelbyville area.
Rex never knew a stranger and enjoyed road trips with friends, especially to the casinos. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and attended many races. He was an avid Illini basketball and football fan. He also loved camping trips and wintering in Sarasota, FL.
Visitation: 9:15 – 11:15 am, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman. A private graveside service will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central IL or St. John’s Breadline.
