Raymond Rex Reid, 76 died Oct. 25, 2022, as a result of a single car accident. He leaves behind his wife, Elan C (Schmidt) Schneider Reid; one daughter, a sister and two brothers, three stepsons and their families, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Graceland University at Lamoni, Iowa, and was a retired medical research Chemist and Quality Control consultant. He was a native of Colorado, but lived in Houston, Texas, most of his adult life before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a kind and generous person, who was eager to help others in need. He will be missed by his loving family, extended family and many friends. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. His remains were cremated as he requested.

A celebration of life service will be held at the New Covenant Bible Church, 3090 N. Center Point Rd, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Nov. 5, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. for family and friends in this area. A similar service will be held at a later time in Texas when arrangements can be made. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Sierra Club Foundation or to The Cedar Rapids Iowa Community of Christ, “Random Acts of Kindness fund” in care of his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Sue Reid 1704 Brookdale Ln. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
