Phyllis Lanning Babb

Phyllis Lanning Babb, 79, of Elon and Snellville, Ga, passed away Saturday, May 14 at Life Care Center of Hendersonville after a sudden period of declining health, just days before her 80th birthday. Born at home in Fletcher, NC on May 29,1942, she was the daughter of Virgil and Alice Lanning. Her greatest joy was being a mother and a grandmother. Although we will miss her, we are grateful that she has been released from the unrelenting pain she suffered for many years.

She is survived by her children, Amber Honeycutt (Craig), from Elon, NC and Parker Kale Babb (Mei-Sze), from Snellville, Georgia; grandchildren Lanning, Griffin and Carter Honeycutt and Sydney, Peter and Jacob Babb. Also surviving is her sister, Lynda Tweed (Terry), niece Heather Templeton (Matthew) and nephew Jason Tweed (Brandi), and great-nieces and nephews Alena, Titus and Jocelyn Templeton and Adyson and Kinleigh Tweed. She is also survived by the sweet family of Israel and Lucy Vergara, special cousin Judy Cathcart and dear friends Pat Mintz and Mary Banman.

There will be a graveside service at Lanning-Pattillo Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Fruitland at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Vergara Children Education Fund at Truist Bank, Special Handling, P.O. Box 27572, Richmond, Virginia 23261. Mama considered Israel, Lucy, Katie and Jesse family and would be so happy to help contribute to their futures.
