Ms. Patricia Lee “Pat” Ogden, daughter of the late Vincent Perry and Thelma “Skip” Donohoe, died surrounded by her three children at 2305 Prairie Hill Drive in Marion on May 13, 2023, due to Alzheimer’s Disease and a cardiac condition. She was 79 years old. Pat was a caring, intelligent, and humorous person who made a positive impression on those lucky enough to know her well.

Pat was born in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 29, 1944. (Yes, she only had 19 birthdays during her lifetime!). She began working at Collins Radio in her 20s and retired early from Rockwell in her mid-’50s. A proud Democrat, she was active in her company’s union, always trying to ensure fair wages and equitable treatment for all. She lived for years in Springville while working and moved to Cedar Rapids after retiring.

Pat enjoyed music, dancing, movies, and watching television with her mom, with whom she lived for nearly 20 years. A very caring person, Pat was also an avid animal lover. She took care of too many cats to count, taking in unwanted strays and nursing the ill back to health. She was even featured twice in the Cedar Rapids Gazette for saving the life of a cat which, due to serious physical injury, was trapped high in a tree.

Pat will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Michelle (Todd) Quaas of Alburnett; Victor (Saifon) Ogden of Marion; and Barb Hennings of Springville; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held for Pat at Sally’s on Broadway in Springville, Iowa, at a date and time TBD.
