Patricia Eileen Marshall was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, to parents William and Harriet. Growing up she enjoyed all that Chicago had to offer, exploring the city with her sister and friends, spending time at nearby Lake Michigan and becoming a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. During her childhood she spent most summers on her grandparents’ farm in rural Kansas where she enjoyed family time with many aunts and beloved cousins.

Pat attended Loyola University where she met her future husband, Gerry Kaiser, during their freshman year. They were married in Chicago on June 8, 1968. They eventually settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and raised five children, Anne, James, John, Elizabeth and Matthew.

Pat’s most treasured role was being a mom. She spent many years volunteering at her children’s school, St. Pius X. She was always driving kids to various activities, attending games, field trips and school programs. She loved every minute of it. Later in life she absolutely cherished being a grandmother and truly loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Pat held a deep faith and was a member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha. She loved helping others and enjoyed cooking meals and delivering them to people in need. She loved walking and visiting with neighbors. Her love of dogs allowed her to be the neighborhood dog sitter. She volunteered at her local American Legion with Gerry where they were instrumental in honoring members across Hiawatha through the delivery of US flags on holidays. Pat also enjoyed watching the Cubs, college basketball and golf, even learning to golf later in life. Pat and Gerry spent a lot of time at their place in Lake of the Ozarks where they loved to golf. Pat eventually earned the nickname “Putter Patty” after one very amazing and legendary putt.

In her final year of life Pat was lovingly cared for by the incredible staff at Country House Residence. St. Croix Hospice provided so much love and care in her final weeks. Even while battling the disease and losing her memory she maintained her sweet, kind, gentle demeanor.

Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years, her five children and their spouses, ten grandchildren, a sister and a brother, nieces, nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
