Oscar Isaacs

Oscar Isaacs (Pop), 83, of Hendersonville, NC passed away at Advent Health on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from COVID (SARS-CoV-2)

He was born in Deane, KY to the late Oscar Isaacs Sr. and Lawnie Hall Isaacs.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Joan Gaynelle Isaacs, daughter-in-law Cheryl Isaacs, great-grandson Grant Isaacs, sisters Lynn Pauline Elkins and Peggy Ann Bates, and brother Zenith H. Isaacs.

After graduating high school, Oscar entered the Merchant Marines.  He next trained to become a barber.  He spent his whole barber career working in Tuxedo and East Flat Rock.  Lastly, he was a small business owner of Tuxedo Community Store, then Hills General Store, while also working as a barber.  He was also a deacon at Tuxedo First Baptist and loved gardening and Community Service.  He always stated that getting to see and speak to customers was also one of his biggest joys and motivated him to keep going.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Joan Thiessen and husband Michael Thiessen of Zirconia, Deborah Isaacs and husband Dave Lipson of Riverton, WY; sons, Brad Isaacs and wife Veronica of Zirconia and Rex Isaacs of Travelers Rest; daughter in law Kathy Isaacs of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Jason Isaacs, Sheena Isaacs, Lee Isaacs, Luke Isaacs, Kyle Isaacs, Gracie Thiessen, Jacob Thiessen, William Thiessen, Austin Lipson, McKenna Lipson, Abigale Lipson; great-grandchildren, Tristan Isaacs, Bryson Isaacs, Kylee Isaacs, Shayla Isaacs, and Kennedy Foster; brother Tex Isaacs of Jenkins, KY; nephews, Josh Isaacs, Jason Isaacs Ron Isaacs, Neal Isaacs, Randy Bates; nieces, Savannah Isaacs, Paula K. Johnson, Alena Tankie Williams, and Tammie Combs.

A funeral service will be held at five o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Tuxedo First Baptist Church with the Reverend Mikell Bennett.  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The family asks that all guests wear a mask and maintain social distance. A private family graveside service will follow.
