Obituary: Yhvona Martin
- July 18, 2021
At age 92, Florence Yhvona Martin passed peacefully on June 11, 2021 at Skyline Estates Assisted Living Center. While medical personnel called it, “Failure to Thrive”, that phrase in no way described the dynamic, energy-filled life Yhvona led.
Yhvona worked full-time while raising two sons and supporting her husband’s thirst for mining and politics. With remarkable efficiency, she worked for numerous areas of the state government including Budget Office, Fiscal Analysis Division, and the Legislative Council Bureau. She continued to take minutes for the legislative sessions well into her 70s.
Yhvona was active in many groups at the Carson City United Methodist Church. She maintained relationships with countless co-workers, friends and neighbors. She treasured and nurtured each friendship and those who knew her were truly blessed.
Yhvona is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip. She is survived by her sons Philip (and Betsy) Martin and Chris (and Jessica) Martin, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donations in Yhvona’s memory may be sent to Carson City First United Methodist Church – designation – Literature Fund.
