Obituary: Steven James Dion

Steven James Dion, 74, passed away of cancer on July 3, 2022 in Carson City, NV.

Steve is survived by his wife, Andrea Franko of 33 years; his sister, Andrea Dion, of Minden, Nevada; his son, Sean and wife Christine, of Agoura Hills, California; his daughter, Heather Marie of Trabuco Canyon, California; along with three grandchildren, Collin, Carly, Mackenzie.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew Jason.

Steve was born on October 7, 1947 in Quincy, Massachusetts, to parents Norman and Rita Dion. His family relocated to Downey, California in 1948. He graduated from Warren High School, Downey, California in 1965.

Steve relocated to Carson City, NV in 1976 and pursued a life long career in data technology and computers, with initial employment at businesses such as Mallory, Richdel, and others.

He also formed a company, SDC Software in the 80’s. His final years of employment were at the State of Nevada Health Department, where he retired from.

Steve was a social, active man who was deeply involved in boating and sailing with his friends, with a more recent love of camping in Northern Nevada. He had a passion for traveling and vacations to Mexico. He loved his dogs and puttering around in his home office and work shop.

His family and friends will always remember him as quite the character and fun to be with and a person that could accomplish anything.

A private celebration of life will be held in Sacramento, California in August, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Nevada Humane Society in honor of Steve Dion.
