Jean Hartkemeyer 95, of Jacksonville, FL passed away March 2 in Jacksonville surrounded by her children. Jean was born February 17, 1930, near Ames, IA. The daughter of Ralph and Cecil Wright, Jean graduated from Alburnett High School, Class of 1947.

On July 17, 1949, Jean married Duane Hartkemeyer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Together they raised three children, Steven, Randy and Sandra Hartkemeyer.

The last living family member of her generation, Jean was a long-time employee of W.R. Grace, Cryovac Division and was the first female to rise to a production supervisory role, opening the door for others to follow. She and Duane retired to St. Augustine, FL in 1994.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Tracie) Hartkemeyer of Jacksonville, FL, Randy (Chris) Hartkemeyer of Hendersonville, TN and Sandra Hartkemeyer of Lexington Park, MD, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Duane, her parents, her sisters Vi Atwood and Lenora Webster and her brother, Arlo “Lefty” Wright.

A private interment ceremony flowed by a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
