Nick W. Roscetti, 104, of Riverton, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab. He was born July 28, 1917, in Riverton, the son of Nicola and Assunta “Susie” (Ciotti) Roscetti. He married Peggy Pickford on November 8, 1961 and she preceded him in death on March 25, 2016.
Also preceding him in death are his parents; one infant daughter; one brother, John Roscetti; one sister, Florence Bishop, and one infant sister.
Survivors include three sons, Nicholas Roscetti of Jacksonville, Garry (Nicole) Roscetti of Glenarm, and Tony (Sally) Roscetti of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Claire, Trey, Kathryn, and Robert Roscetti and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nick was a United States Navy veteran, serving during WWII.
He retired from Allis-Chalmers after 41 years of service. Nick belonged to St. James Catholic Church in Riverton. He was a charter member of Riverton Knights of Columbus and Riverton Athletic Club, andalso a member the United Auto Workers Union.
Visitation: 2 – 4 pm, Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 12:30 pm, Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church in Riverton, with Reverend Raphael Paul DeMoreno officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riverton Knights of Columbus, St. James Catholic Church, or Sangamon County Inter Veterans Burial Detail.
