Michael Thomas Greene
- April 12, 2021
Michael Thomas Greene, 60, passed away at Harris Methodist in Fort Worth on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Mike is survived by his wife Julie, his mother Hannelore of Ocala, Florida, father Bernard of Foley, Alabama, brother Joey also of Florida, a son, Wesley, of Florida and two stepdaughters, Brittany and Andrea Harrison both of Marceline, Missouri.
Mike was born July 28, 1960 in Bristol, Pennsylvania and raised in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
Mike held a number of jobs in his youth including working on fishing boats on
Chesapeake Bay. For a long time he wanted to be a weatherman as he was always
fascinated by big storms. Being a true people person, someone who never met a
stranger, and with a love of entertainment, a future in radio was almost inevitable.
His first job in radio was at station WMJS in Prince Frederick, Maryland at age 17.
Over the decades Mike worked at radio stations around the country in large and small markets. He always liked the smaller markets best as it gave him the chance to really connect with the community and serve them in ways a true radio professional could by announcing local sporting events, promoting new small business openings and manning the station through all hours of the night keeping folks informed when threatening weather was in the area.
Mike and his wife Julie of Chisholm Trail Communications put KOME-FM 95.3 on the air March of 2015 in Glen Rose, TX.
In November of 2019 the station switched frequencies to K-Hits 95.5 and added KITT-FM 106.5 to serve Bosque County.
August of 2020 K-Hits 95.5/106.5 offices and studios were relocated to Granbury Texas off Temple Hall Highway.
Mike Greene was meticulous, passionate and professional about his work. He loved strongly and his greatest love, second only to his ‘Angel’ Julie, were his audience and members of the community.
Memorial service: 10:00 AM, Friday, April 16, 2021, StoneWater Church, Glen Rose.
