Michael “Mikey” Jones
- February 23, 2022
Michael “Mikey” Jones, 60, of Zirconia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Elizabeth House following an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he is a son of Leslie “Sonny” and Helen Osteen Jones. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie “Les” Jones III.
Mikey was a 1979 graduate of East Henderson High School and worked as a lineman for Duke Energy for 32 years prior to retiring and starting his own handyman service. He was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church, the Hendersonville Elks Lodge #1616 and the Wildlife Turkey Federation of South Carolina. Mikey enjoyed fishing, golfing, deer hunting and cooking (which he was very good at). His love for his family was deep and he cherished the time he spent with them and his many friends. He was truly a great example of what a father should be to his children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Jones; parents, Sonny and Helen Jones; children, Mindy Jones of Boone, NC and Michael “Mikey” Jones of Washington State and their mother, Lisa Jones; his other son, Toby Johnson (Cyndi McCarson Johnson) of Mooresville, NC; stepdaughters, Morgan Drake and Mattie Drake and their children, Christopher, Solomon and Simon; sister, Michelle Jones; a niece and nephews.
A celebration of Mikey’s life will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Mud Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Sam Beddingfield officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mikey’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
