Michael Joe Reeder

Michael “Mike” Joe Reeder, 62, of Ontario, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at Avita Health System-Bucyrus Hospital.

He was born May 31, 1959, in Hampton, Virginia. Mike was a very friendly, personable man who never knew a stranger. He was fun loving, encouraging and had a big heart. Mike was independent and a straight talker-you knew exactly where he stood on everything. Mike worked at Newman Technologies for 30 years. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and like Harley Davidson and Kawasaki brands best. Mike was lucky enough to channel his passion for motorcycles into his other occupation and taught motorcycle safety at North Central State College. Taking road trips and rides with his family and friends were special times for him. Mike was a member of local clubs, organizations and motorcycle groups. Although motorcycles were his first love, he enjoyed cars also. Mike was a “foodie” and enjoyed trying new cuisines and dishes. He was a great cook himself and a recipe collector, amassing hundreds of recipes over the years.

He is survived by his mother, Shelva “Gail” Thompson Reeder; sons, Travis Reeder and Justin Reeder; and step daughter, Samantha (Jason) Hotz. six grandchildren, Aria, Aubrey, Bailey, Taylor, Katlyn and Cayden; a great-grandson, Grayson; a brother, Phil Reeder; a sister, Rhonda (Butch) Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Reeder; and a brother, Jeff Reeder.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A private family service will be observed. He will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Memorial Park at a future date.
