Michael Arthur Conrey died unexpectedly at his home in Marion on Feb. 2, 2023, at the age of 45. Michael was born June 4, 1977, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids to Loretta and Tom Conrey. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1995 and earned his PharmD from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2004. His entire professional career was spent serving the community at Hy-Vee Drugstore in Marion and Hy-Vee Grocery Pharmacy for 19 years.

On June 15, 2013, he wed Mary Neppl Bennett. They welcomed Arthur in 2016 and Tabitha in 2020.

Mike was adept with grilling and roasting, and loved preparing new meals for his family. He loved bike trail rides with his parents and son on the Cedar Valley Trail. He taught Youth Faith Formation at St. Joseph’s Church. Community members will recall his service as a pharmacist where he worked hard to attend to every customer.

Mike is survived by his partner Mary, children Arthur and Tabitha, parents Tom and Loretta Conrey, brother Nick (Tiffani) and sister Jessica (Brett Denlinger), nephew Creyton, nieces Claudia, Makayla and Addison, in-laws Ruth and Larry Neppl, brother-in-law Dan Neppl (Leigh), sisters-in-law Laura Considine (Tim) and Sarah Gustason (Jeff), nephews and nieces.

Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services: Thursday, Feb. 9, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 8300 C Ave. in Marion, at 10 a.m. Mike’s family asks that those attending the funeral service wear something yellow, so their son, Arthur will see his favorite color in all gathered as he mourns the death of his best buddy and father.

A private family burial will be at a later date.
