Michael A. Nation, Sr., 73, of Springfield, IL died at 1:24 pm, Monday, January 4, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 12, 1947 in Springfield to Leo E. and Annie Sims Nation. He married Barbara Nilhas August 30, 1980 and she preceded him in death July 15, 2020.

He is survived by his son, Michael A. (Pamela) Nation, Jr. of Pleasant Plains, IL; a granddaughter, Sierra Nation and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Norman, Everett and Donald Nation and two sisters, Sandy Nass and Diane Shellhammer.

Michael was a United States Army Veteran. He worked at Simplex for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing the lottery and coin collecting.

Private services will be held. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Pastor Donn Stephens officiating. Military honors
will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the VFW Post 10302.

CDC Protocol shall be followed.
