Merle A. “Pete” Abell, age 89 of Hinckley, IL passed away at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He was born on December 4, 1931 in Shabbona, IL the son of Otis and Lila (Thompson) Abell.
Mr. Abell was a member of the Hinckley First United Methodist Church in Hinckley, IL. He enjoyed helping his father on their family farm. Pete was well known for many years providing lawn maintenance services and lawn mowing in the community. He was a member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge. One of his hobbies was collecting model tractors. Pete was a loving son, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Pete is survived by his sister, Arlene Petschke of Hinckley, IL; his sister-in-law Rebecca Abell of Hinckley, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Lila Abell; his sister, Jean (Donald) Schuldt; his brother, Leroy T. “Red” Abell; his brother-in-law, Roger Petschke; as well as one nephew.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple Street, Hinckley, IL. Interment will then take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hinckley, IL.
Friends may visit from 1:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel in Hinckley, IL.
