Maureen Rattner, age 63, died Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Glendale, CA from chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its complications. There will be no services. A celebration of her life will be held in late spring or summer. Maureen grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Washington HS along with her twin sister, Jeanette, in 1979. She attended the University of Iowa for two years then transferred to New York University. Maureen graduated from NYU Tisch School of Arts (Film and Television) in 1983. Within a year of graduating, she moved to the Los Angeles area and spent the rest of her life in the L.A. area.

The arts were always Maureen’s main interest in life reflected by her many activities including the i.e. Writers Guild of Los Angeles. She coped with and survived numerous progressive disabling health conditions, often stunning doctors and others with her rebounds from life/death situations. She was a force to be reckoned with.

Maureen will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered as someone who made, and remembered, friends.

She recently self-published a book, Applause, highlighting eight of her friends and acquaintances who became successful in the arts.

Maureen is survived by her parents, Howard and Diane Rattner and her twin sister, Jeanette plus other extended family members. Maureen has always had a cat whenever possible except in her later years at the Care Center. Donations may be made in memory of Maureen Rattner, at the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
