Mary Louise Risi

Mary Louise Risi, formerly of Springfield, Illinois, passed away on November 25, 2020, in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born September 21, 1919, to William E. and Marie (Withey) Dodd.

Mary was a long-time member of West Side Christian Church where she was baptized and loved singing in the choir. She married John Colson Risi on July 3, 1942; they were married for 55 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Florence Pauline Dodd Coffinbargar, granddaughter, and husband.

Mary was blessed with four children, James (Marsha) Risi of St. Simons Island, GA; Robert (Linda) Risi of Enumclaw, WA; Mark (Melodee) Risi of Anchorage, AK; Jane (William) Risi Hulett of Overland Park, KS. She had seven grandchildren, Eric, Scott, David, Timothy, Elizabeth, Patricia and Jennifer; three step grandchildren, Dore, Aaron and Angela. She had 15 great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren; niece Wanda Coffinbargar Stewart and nephew William Coffinbargar; great nieces Karen Stewart Branham and Susan Stewart Dorsey; great nephews David Stewart, Michael and Steven Coffinbargar. She had many more great nieces and nephews.

Her first job was selling snow cones at the Illinois State Fair in 1937; first full-time job was at Memorial Hospital. During World War II she worked at Western Union; retired from Horace Mann Insurance Company in 1983.

Service and Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Celebration of Life at a later date.

Memorials may be made to West Side Christian Church.
