Mary Kay Morris, 85, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Solon. Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Kay was born on April 21, 1939, in Iowa City, the daughter of Charles and Elma (Sheppard) Shimon. She graduated from Solon High School, class of 1957. Kay was united in marriage to Bob Morris on June 11, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was privileged to have the best job in the world, raising her six children, as well as being a loving wife, grandma and great grandma to her family. She was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Solon community.
Kay is survived by her six children Greg (Lynn) Morris, Tim Morris, Maureen (Mike) Kinney, Mark (Melody) Morris, Michael (Joanne) Morris, and Ann Morris; ten grandchildren James (Taylor) Morris, Jake Morris, Katherine (Dr. Matthew) Shanahan, Caroline Morris, Jack Kinney (Katie), Max Kinney, Clayton Adams, Cameron Adams (Paige), Alex Morris and Elise Morris; one great-granddaughter Evelyn “Evashevski” and William Morris; her sister Neia May; her sister-in-law Theresa Morris; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Bob, brothers-in-law George May and Bill Morris.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the donors’ charities of choice.
