Mary Ann Atkins-Glaze

Mary Ann Atkins-Glaze

the 78th day of 1954 the earth shook and took a pause in Cleveland, Ohio as Mary Ann Jackson was born Friday, March 19th. The fourth child and third daughter born to Almeda and Eugene Jackson Sr. Mary was destined to spread love and be the glue to hold the family together throughout her life. On February 14, 1970, at the precious age of sixteen, Mary gave birth to a son Derrick R. Jackson and began her life tenure as a devoted mother. Mary attended Cleveland public schools and graduated from John Adams High School in 1972. Mary worked various jobs to support herself and child and in 1976 at the age of twenty-two Mary landed a Job at the Ford Motor Company in Brookpark, Ohio and financially set her mark. Having been reared in the church Mary knew and loved the Lord and accepted Christ into her life at an early age. Baptized by Pastor Jesse L. Davis, Mary knew the importance of doing missionary work not only in church and at work but with her family as well. Having a personal relationship with God was Mary’s anchor in life and everyone knew she LOVED the Lord! As a mother, Mary instilled values and the importance of putting God first in her children and set an example of unwavering faith. If Mary was not at Ford Motor, she was praising God at Kinsman Road Church of God in Christ. Mary met and Married Alonzo Atkins in 1978. From this union, their daughter Travian Atkins was born in 1979. Mary mastered motherhood providing unconditional love and financial support to her children. Mary was the mother that went beyond for her children, and it was no secret to anyone who knew her. Once Mary’s grandchildren were born her life was completely devoted to them and their wellbeing. The glue to her siblings and her family, Mary was always showing love, and everyone loved Mary! Mary prided herself on working hard to get what she wanted regardless of the cost. Mary was an advocate of peace and God’s love, an ear to listen, a body in place as support, a home to visit with top-of-the line amenities and no restrictions to access, a no interest loan shark, and a secured savings money holder. Mary had various roles in people’s lives and always perfected her part. Mary, full of love, found love again and in 2000 married Cottrell Glaze who was not only a companion but a great friend to her. Cottrell proceeded Mary in death January 27, 2022. Mary dedicated 40 years of work life and retired from the Ford Motor Company in July of 2016. Mary spent a vast amount of her 40-year tenure in the Foundry and prided herself on getting to the job on time and doing the job right the first time! Mary would say every day she wanted to quit however “the money was too good not to show back up.”  Meeting Mary at the start of her shift with a buggy to ride or pulling Mary’s car to the door to limit her walk at the end of her shift, Mary’s co-workers wanted to make sure her last workdays were easy. Mary was a light to all she encountered, and her sweatshirts and tee-shirts always expressed her love for GOD. Mary leaves to cherish her memory two children; Derrick R. Jackson Sr. and Travian M. Atkins, four grandchildren Me’Ania T. Hampton, Derrick R. Jackson Jr., Te’Lisa F. Morris, and Tavion Morris, fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters Carol (John) Pinson, Wilma (Walter) Thomas, brother Michael Taylor, four siblings who preceded her in death; Eugene Jackson Sr. (Barbara), Doris Jackson, Toni McDowell, and Terri Gant, Goddaughter Ciera N. Jackson- Earley, five aunts, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews and a best-friend/sister Rossie Morrison and a forever daughter-in-law Tiffany Harris.
