Martin Edward Bateman, Sr.

COLERAIN, NC – Martin Edward Bateman, Sr., age 62, of Britton Street, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Bateman was born on April 24, 1960 to Thomas Ernest Bateman, Sr. and Elizabeth White Bateman in Edenton, NC. Martin worked as a roofer and was a truck driver for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He cherished his family especially his grandchildren. Martin was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Ernest Bateman, Jr., and Thomas Bateman.

Martin is survived by two sons, Martin Edward Bateman Jr. and wife Danielle of Hertford, NC, and Nicholas Bateman of Avon, NC; a daughter, Crystal Ruth Bateman and husband Lloyd Frazier, Jr. of Bath, NC; twelve grandchildren, Autumn Helen Bateman, Laci Marie Bateman, Elena Rosilyn Bateman, Sophia Ann Bateman, Madalynn Faith Bateman, Josephine Rose Bateman, Katherine Marie Blandford, Hailey Dawn Blandford, Braden Edward Bateman, Daniel Lee Bateman, Preston Hunter Frazier, and Austin Garrett Frazier; a great-granddaughter, Daisey Jene Preble; a sister, Elizabeth Bateman Richardson of Camden; a brother, Cecil Ray Bateman and wife Teresa of Edenton; along with numerous extended family members.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 am at Harrellsville United Methodist Church, 106 South Quebec Rd., Harrellsville, NC with Rev. Walter Johnston officiating.
