Martha JoAnn Donaldson

Martha JoAnn Donaldson born May 12, 1938, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the family she cherished, on May 1, 2021.

Born in Marion, North Carolina she attended Clevenger Business School and began her adult life near Arlington, Virginia where she met the love of her life Alan Jackson “Jack” Donaldson. She was a successful businesswoman in the community, with a passion for real estate and the owner/operator of Apple Country Realty. Her favorite place to be was at the beach surrounded by friends and family.

JoAnn is survived by her son Jeff Donaldson and his wife Donna, favorite daughter and son-in-law Jennifer “Missy” McCarson and Stuart, and son Carl Donaldson and wife Dawna. Her grandchildren Crista Wilson (Mark), Haley Justus (Jamie), Kayla Williams (Cody), Hunter Donaldson (Allea), Cole McCarson (Caroline), and four precious great-grandchildren Blake, Jace, Roan, and Cason. Joann loved spending time with her siblings Myrtle Pennington (Wendell), Peggy Waters (Sherm), Roger Miller, Bud “Bucky” Miller (Doris), and Billy Miller. She is preceded in death by her father Clyde Miller, mother June Miller, and brothers Donald and Bobby Miller.

The family would like to especially thank Mary Howard and Darren James for being true angels among us, caring for JoAnn as if she were their own family. Also, Roxanne Hanson with Four Seasons Hospice, who went above and beyond anything we could have ever expected. Lastly, Melessia Gammon and the many many friends who hold a special place in the family’s hearts.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, at the home of Jack and Joann, 743 Kyles Creek Rd, Hendersonville. A graveside service will be held at Fruitland Cemetery on Townsend Road at two o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice.
