Martha Jane Bassin

Martha Jane Bassin, 92, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away at her home on Sunday, June 6, 2021. She was born in Mansfield on October 25, 1928 to the late Carl and Helen (Swassick) Walters.

Martha had previously worked in the early 1950’s at Dominion Electrical Manufacturing where she met her future husband, Buck, and was a cook assistant at Winchester Nursing Home. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army, helping to provide meals. Martha was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church.

She is survived by her children, Gene Bassin of Powell, Steve Bassin Sr of Shiloh and Barb (Harlan) Neal of Mansfield; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Buck” Bassin Sr. who passed in 1995; a son, Johnny Dale; brothers and sisters, Jack Walters, Gene Walters, Bob Walters, Ray Walters, Dick Walters, Dorothy Gaubatz, and Freda Clark.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday June 14, 2021 at Foursquare Gospel Church, 383 Davidson St., Mansfield, OH 44907. A funeral service will be held at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army Women’s Ministries formerly known as Ladies Home League.
