Martha Genevieve Kleinmeyer, 87, died peacefully on May 13, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Martha was born June 27, 1936 in Clear Creek, of rural Harper, IA to John and Caecilia (Peiffer) Weber. She graduated from Keota High School in 1954. On Aug. 27, 1955, Martha married Al Kleinmeyer at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek, of rural Harper, IA. Martha then worked at Cross Medical Laboratories in Iowa City.

Martha was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, where she served the church faithfully in many capacities and projects. She was an active member of Altar and Rosary, helping plan the Fall Dinner, organizing the Holiday Bazaar, and baking their well-known kolaches.

Martha’s passion for beauty blossomed not only in her backyard flower garden, especially for her daisies and sunflowers, but also in the melodies she’d play on the piano. Whether tending to her plants; watching ‘Jenny’ wrens, hummingbirds, and her favorite, cardinals; or serenading loved ones with an adored tune, Martha found joy in the simple wonders around her.

Following her career, Martha dedicated her time to providing childcare for her 11 grandchildren, and eventually, doting over her 11 great-grandchildren. Whether it was babysitting, providing rides to school, or hosting holiday gatherings, she was always there to look after her family. For Martha, there was no greater love than that of family and friends.

Martha possessed a spirit as strong as her unwavering devotion to those around her. Martha’s heart overflowed with kindness and compassion for her loved ones, creating a legacy of warmth and togetherness that will forever be cherished. She will be truly missed by everyone around her.

Martha is survived by her four children, Mark (Cindy) Kleinmeyer of Keystone, IA; Tim (Theresa) Kleinmeyer, Chris Kleinmeyer, Celeste (Tyler) Shoppa, all of Iowa City; along with her 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Celeste Woltering and Anthony Weber, both of Washington, IA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, 11 of her siblings, and beloved husband, Al.
