It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Tschopp. Mark Allen Tschopp, 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, with his wife, Marsha, by his side.

Mark was born Sept. 26, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Erwin and Virginia Tschopp. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1968 and attended the University of Iowa on a baseball scholarship. In 1971, he married Marsha Wood, and they were married 51 years. He was a member of the 1972 Big Ten Championship baseball team and went on to play a season with the Montreal Expos. Mark was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1973-1975. In 2017, Mark was honored to be inducted into Jefferson High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Mark loved many things, but most of all, he loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends and family. He was known for his fierce loyalty to those he loved, his sense of humor, his competitive nature in sports and his love of the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha; his children, Mark (Meredith), Michael (Rachael) and Megan (Justin); and his five grandchildren, Sam, Alex, Ember, Isaac and Elenor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erwin; his mother, Virginia; and his best friend and brother, Dave.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
