Marjorie Della Estrop

Marjorie Della Estrop, 94 of Chatham, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born December 17, 1926 in Springfield, to William H. and Fleta P. Carter Grieme. She married Gordon L. Estrop in April of 1946 and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1968.

Survivors include two sons, Mark (Tina) Estrop of Chatham and Dave (Virginia) Estrop of Springfield, OH; three grandchildren, Dana, Katherine and Erin; three step-grandchildren, Erik, Rachel and Marissa; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Kaylee – with Holden to arrive soon; and multiple cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and beloved dachshund, Zucker.

Marjorie was a homemaker before her husband’s death, but became a bookkeeper for the American Baptist Churches of the Great Rivers Region to support her family.

She was a lifelong member of Elliott Avenue Baptist Church and a resident of Rochester & Springfield all her life. Throughout her life she participated in many organizations such as, Cub Scouts, Rochester PTA Club, Rochester Athletic Booster Club, American Baptist Youth Mission Trips, Chicken Bristle Questors in Rochester and CEDCAS Women’s Clinic in Costa Rica.

Cremation will be accorded by Staab Funeral Home Springfield. Private family burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Celebration of Life: Family hosted on July 31, 2021 from 1 – 3 pm at the Hope Institute Pavilion at Southwind Park – Springfield, IL.
