Maria G. Mendez

Maria G. Mendez, age 77 of Plano, IL passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born on November 13, 1943 in Santa Rosa el Oro, Durango, Mexico the daughter of Antonia and Maria Luisa (Villa) Mata.

Maria was united in marriage to Mr. Juan Mendez Nevarez and they spent many happy years together until his passing. Mrs. Mendez was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plano, IL. Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Maria is survived by her children, Maribel (Jesus) Montenegro, Luz (Ezequiel) Nunez, Nelida (Lauro) Cano, Juan (Deborah) Mendez, Noel (Maria) Mendez; also her grandchildren, Jessica, David, Jorge, Alonzo, Adrian, Michael, Eric, Anthony, Abigail, Alex and Aliana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonia and Maria Luisa Mata; and her husband, Juan Mendez Nevarez.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 on Monday, February 1, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 North Center Avenue, Plano, IL with Deacon Eduardo Murillo, officiating. Due to Covid -19 guidelines a maximum of 70 people will be allowed to attend the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in the Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.

Friends may visit from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL.
