M. Glen Goehring 93, long-time resident of Marion, Iowa died on December 27, 2023, while living in Meadowview-The Views of Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held on January 3, 2024, at 10:00 am at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, just prior to the service.

Survivors include his wife Virgina, sons Duane (Libby) of Niceville, FL and Jerry (Catherine Elder) of Ketchikan, AK, two grandsons Andy (Abby) Goehring and Great-Grand Daughter Claire of Delaware, OH and Jerome (Elizabeth) Goehring and Great-Grand Daughters Lena and Aveline, and Great-Grand Son Mason of Bristow, VA. Also, survivors include one brother, Raymond (Letha) Goehring of Fairfield, IA and Carol Berg long-time resident of Waverly, IA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Hazel Goehring, brothers Keith (Evelyn) Goehring, Carrol (Helen) Goehring, and Karl (Ruth) Goehring and sisters Fern (Sylvester) Mineart, Darlene (Richard) Reynolds, Mable Berg, Niece Diane Berg, Nephews Larry and Gary Goehring, Niece Carol (Mineart) Kenny, Great Niece Darby Gilbert and daughter-in-law Alicia Goehring.

Marion Glen Goehring was born January 31, 1930, in the family farmhouse near Libertyville, IA. He attended the one-room schoolhouse near their home for grades K-8 and then attended Fairfield High School graduating in June 1948. He attended three years of college at Iowa State Teachers College before serving two years in the United State Marine Corps. During these two years he was a member of the VMF 232 Fighter Squadron as a radio repairman. He was stationed at the Marine Airbase at El Toro, CA and the Marine Air Base at Kaneoa Bay, Hawaii.

He returned to Iowa State Teachers College to finish his senior year in June 1954. He earned his BA degree and certification for teaching grades 7-12 math and science. He did teach math and science for 37 years, retiring in June 1992 from Linn Mar Schools in Marion, IA where he taught his last 25 years. Glen was united in marriage with Virginia H. Bourne on December 26, 1955, in Ames, IA First United Methodist Church. They have been blessed with 68 years of marriage living in Marion, IA from June 1967 until moving into assisted living at The Views of Cedar Rapids in November 2020.

Glen graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, IA with the Class of 1954. He taught junior high school in New Sharon, IA, Nevada, IA, Horicon, WI, and Linn Mar Schools in Marion, IA. During retirement years, he did volunteer work with the Linn Mar High School for about 11 years.
