Lynnie Mae Menendez

Lynnie Mae Menendez, 76, of Springfield, passed away on September 3, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on June 20, 1945 in Streator, IL to Earl Rhodes and Alice Lucille (McKee) Rhodes. Upon the death of her mother Lynnie was raised by Mike and Delta Roscetti as their own. She married Ramon F. Menendez on October 8, 1966 and he preceded her in death in 2004.

She is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Greg) Dawson of Chatham, two grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Dawson and Alexander Dawson, great-grandson Zachary and one on the way, brother, Jack Schultz of South Carolina, brother-in-law, Louis Menendez of Springfield, sisters-in-law, Divinia (David) Metzger of Athens and Carol Menendez of Gulf Shores, AL, several cousins and her beloved cat, Boomer.

She was first and foremost a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a resident of Springfield all her life and held several positions with the State of Illinois retiring from Secretary of State Driver Services.

She was preceded in death by both sets of her parents, husband and son, Ramon “Ray, Jr.”

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 and Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with a prayer service at 4 pm.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. Frances Cabrini Church with Reverend Richard Chiola officiating.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery.
