Luther Slater, Sr., 77, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.
He was born February 1, 1944 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Percy and Dellie Goff Slater.
Luther was a member of Grace Community Church in Glen Rose.
He moved his family to Glen Rose in 1975. He helped construct the domes that are currently being used at Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant. He and Nettie also built Spare Time that was a gift store on Highway 67.
Luther was preceded in death by his wife Nettie Mae Slater in 2011, and by seven siblings.
He is survived by his son, Luther Slater, Jr., and his son’s step-children Allison and Dalton Bray, his daughter, Melissa Mae Braswell and husband Riki, and their children Lauren Eliff and husband Michael, Meghan, Christian and Daniel Braswell; great-granddaughter Xandria Gwen Braswell (Christian’s daughter), which he called Tooter, sister Marie “Inez” Darden and by a number of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm. to 7:00pm. Saturday; February 27, 2021 at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
Graveside services will be held 2:00pm. Sunday; February 28, 2021 at Squaw Creek Cemetery in Glen Rose (Rainbow), Texas under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
