Lucille C. Martinek was born June 12, 1923 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Arthur L. and Eula V. Black of Jacksonville. Lucille died July 19, 2021.
She is survived by one son, Charles R. “Chuck” Allen (Lynn), grandson, Dr. Daryl M. Allen (Wendy), and great grandson, Wyatt Allen all of Springfield. Also, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd, Clarence, Harold, and Wilbur Black; sister, Virginia (Black) Adams, their spouses and several nieces and nephews.
Lucille graduated from Jacksonville High School and attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville.
She married Harry E. Allen in 1946. He passed away in 1978. In 1980, she married Phillip L. Martinek. He passed away in 2013.
She worked for Allis -Chalmers for several years. At the birth of her son, she became a stay-at-home mother. Upon the death of Harry she started working for the State of Illinois.
Lucille was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Springfield. She has served as a deacon and other ministries in the church.
She served as president of King’s Daughter K. Eberly Circle, president of Springfield’s Golden K Kiwanis, and was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital.
A visitation will be held from 10 am until time of service at 11 am, Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 1st Christian Church in Springfield, IL. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
