Lois Lent, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with vigil service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, with Father David O’Connor officiating. A private committal service will take place at a later date, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa.

Lois was born on March 5, 1941, in Dubuque, the daughter of Sylvester and Arlene (Oswald) Shetler. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Dubuque, and later graduated in 1959 from Dubuque Senior High School. On October 24, 1959, Lois was united in marriage to Donald Joseph Lent in Dubuque. She had various jobs during her lifetime and most recently worked at Cottage Rose Quilt Shop in Marion. Lois was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the UnityPoint Quilting Group that met every Thursday. She loved playing volleyball and was a player in the USVBA. Lois enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, quilting and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lois is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Donald Lent of Marion; children, Cari (Mike) Stein of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, DeeDee (Paul) Saterbak of Hudson, Wisconsin, Ken (Theresa) Lent of Cedar Rapids, David Lent (Amy Nelson) of Ely, Iowa, Cass (Ryan) Garrett of North Liberty, Iowa, and Sarah (Marty) Ressler of Ely; daughter-in-law, Sue Greenwood of Dyersville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Molly (Kurt) Urbain, Matt (Mary) Lent, Camille and Donovan Stein, Bjorn and Tait Saterbak, Dakota and Abigail Lent, Damien, Spencer, and Keaton Garrett, and Allison and Easton Ressler; sister, Susie (Bill) Beecher of Sierra Vista, Arizona; and sister-in-law, Lois Shetler of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Lent; and brother, Harry Shetler.
