Lois Jean Sheriff, nee Dostal, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away surrounded by family on February 25th, 2024. Lois was the beloved wife of Gerald “Jerry” Sheriff for 40 wonderful years.

Lois was born in Cedar Rapids on May 6th, 1941, the daughter of Genevieve Fottral and David P. Dostal.

Lois was proceeded in death by her husband, Gerald, her parents, David and Genevieve, her sister Charlotte Wall, and her brothers Robert (Bob) J. Dostal and David J. Dostal.

Lois was survived by her two daughters, Jean Finley and Patty Cramblet, son-in-law Jerry Cramblet, her three grandchildren, Brian, Connor, and Bailey, and her two great-grandchildren, Owen, and Abby.

Lois worked as an inspector at Rockwell Collins (now Collins Aerospace) for more than 30 years. After retiring from Rockwell she worked in retail at Von Maur. Lois was an incredibly talented artist and excelled at textile design. She belonged to a Red Hat Society group focused on quilting and enjoyed the many friends she made there. Lois loved sharing her talents with friends and family and especially spending time with her eldest daughter, Jean, discussing craft ideas, and with her youngest daughter, Patty, on many shopping trips. Lois treasured the visits from her three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lois’s very best friend and the love of her life was her husband, Jerry, and they went on many adventures together and enjoyed tending to their house and garden. Lois was a strong, vibrant woman with a wicked sense of humor who was completely devoted to her family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, location and time TBA.
