Linda Jane Spratt, 80, of Marion, Iowa, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, April 21, 2024, after a short battle with ovarian cancer. God was merciful and she passed away in her sleep. A Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial immediately following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.

Linda was born on October 14, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Ida (Organ) Spratt. She was a 1961 graduate of Marion High School and went on to attend night school at Kirkwood Community College. Linda was employed by the Cedar Rapids Post Office for 30 years, before retiring in 2009.

She was a very kind and generous person. Linda loved family gatherings, especially at Christmas and Easter. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and shared her love of 60’s music, especially the Beatles, with her sister, Allison. Linda enjoyed reading and, in her younger years, loved biking on the trails. She also loved cats her entire life. Linda was a devout Catholic and attended services regularly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Linda is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother, Tom, of Marion; sister, Allison (Kevin Kuch) of Central City, Iowa; along with her nephew, Kyle (Cristeen Feild); and niece, Megan, both from Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials in Linda’s memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

“When the almond tree blooms, and the locust grows sluggish, and the caper berry is without effect, because man goes to his lasting home and mourners go about the streets; Before the silver cord is snapped and the golden bowl is broken, and the pitcher is shattered at the spring and the broken pulley falls into the well, and the dust returns to the earth as it once was, and the life breath returns to God who gave it.” Ecclesiastes 12:5-7
