Linda Carolyn Welker

Linda Carolyn Welker, age 73 of Sugar Grove, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in the Pavilion on Main in Sandwich, IL. She was born on September 15, 1949 in Beebe, AR the daughter of Newt and Beatrice (Valentine) Taylor.

Linda was united in marriage on September 23, 1993 in Buffalo, MO to Ivan Welker and they spent many happy years until his passing on June 7, 2014. Mrs. Welker was formerly employed as the supervisor of housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and family, everyone knew 37 was her favorite number. Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her children, Paula (Ray Moreno) Martinez of Yorkville, IL and Terry (Maysha) Carlson of Hobart, IN; her grandchildren, Adam (Beatriz) Martinez of Plano, IL, Marissa (David) Uribe of Yorkville, IL, Joey (Julissa) Gonzales of Hobart, IN, Kyle (Alexis) Carlson of Hobart, IN, and Braydon Carlson of Hobart, IN; her 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Emmit Taylor of Beebe, AR, Horace (Erma) Taylor of Beebe, AR, Modean Poe of Beebe, AR, and Kathryn Abshure of Austin, AR; her special sister-in-law, Lynn Taylor of Beebe, AR; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Welker; her parents, Newt and Beatrice Taylor; her siblings, Cletus Taylor and Norma Clotine (Neal) Cochran; her brothers-in-law, Robert Poe and Williefay Abshure; and her first husband, Eugene Carlson, the father of her children.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will take place at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Uniontown Cemetery in rural Knox County, IL.

Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the Hour of Service on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
