Leora M. Chally
Leora M. Chally, age 90 of Aurora, IL, formerly of Yorkville, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Bright Oaks Assisted Living in Aurora, IL. She was born on June, 8, 1931 in Aurora, IL the daughter of William and Amelia (Kuester) Seifert.
Leora was united in marriage on February 11, 1950 to Leonard Chally and they spent the next 71 years happily together. Mrs. Chally was a longtime devoted member of Helmar Lutheran Church in Newark, IL. Leora was a prayer warrior and had a strong faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching the games on TV with Leonard and her family. She loved having her family all gathered together. She made the best Texas sheet cake, thumbprint cookies, pot roast and bread and butter pickles! She was a farmer’s wife – grandsons remember walking the beans and grandma ringing the bell to call them in for lunch. She greeted everyone with a big smile and a big hug. She always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing and being teased back.
Leora is survived by her husband, Leonard Chally of Yorkville, IL; her children, Darrell (Vicki) Chally of Aurora, IL, John (Laurie) Chally of Sugar Grove, IL, Gerald (Linda) Chally of Sheridan, IL, and Bonnie (Bill) Weeks of Yorkville, IL; her grandchildren, Todd (Amy) Chally, Amy Chally, Mike (Kelly) Chally, Jay Chally, Becky (Jeremy Padgett) Chally, Brittany (Matt) Johns, Adam (Kayla) Chally, Scott (Rachel) Weeks, Trent (Jordan) Weeks, and Tanya Weeks; and her great-grandchildren, Heidi, Capri Leora, Ethan and Addison Chally, Delilah, Mason and Tredan Weeks; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Amelia Seifert; her brothers, William Seifert, Clarence Seifert, Orrin Seifert, and her sister, Adele Thill.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Helmar Lutheran Church 11935 Lisbon Rd, Newark, Illinois. Interment will be held in the Pavilion Cemetery, Yorkville, Illinois.
Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the church in Newark, Illinois.
