Leonard Scott Emerson III

Cedar Rapids

Leonard Scott Emerson III joined his mother in heaven on January 16, 2024. He was born in Cedar Rapids on June 15, 1963, the son of Betty Lou Hill and Leonard Emerson II, and resided there most of his life. He graduated from Jefferson High School. Scott worked for Smulekoffs for over 29 years and was a proud Teamster. He loved vehicles, especially his trucks and his motorcycle; one of his best memories was riding his Harley cross-county from Iowa to Washington state. Another favorite pastime was

taking the coon dogs to northern Iowa for hunting. He liked to be busy and could fix anything; he enjoyed lawn work and fixing broken-down appliances in his spare time. He earned a brown belt in taekwondo. He liked bicycling and spoke often about his plans to ride in RAGBRAI one day. He was a fan of the Hawkeyes and the Seattle Seahawks. Scott was a big strong guy with a proud work ethic, genial personality and ready smile. With his kind heart and generous nature, he will be missed by all who knew him, especially his brothers Stephen Olson, Tim (Tina) Olson, sister Penny (David) Olson Charon, niece Danielle (Charon) Peterson, aunt Nancy Lacy and cousin Dani Lacy, and by his dearest friends Jim and MaryAnn Boardman. There is no service at this time. There will be a private graveside service at a later date.
