Leonard N. Adams, 93, of Winter Haven, FL formerly of Springfield, died at 12:12 am, Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Forsythe Hospice Home in Auburndale, FL. He was born October 23, 1928 in Clare, IL to Neal and Alice (Lenhard) Adams. He married December 26, 1953 to Mary Boehme.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Winter Haven, FL; a daughter, Diane (Mark) Scott of Winter Haven, FL; a son, Douglas (Rebecca) Adams of Navarre, FL; four grandchildren, Tyler and Abigail Adams; Kara (Brandon) Bradshaw and Breanna (Conor) Coyle; three great grandchildren, Jaxyn, Ellie and Brody Bradshaw; one brother, Donald (Elaine) Adams of Elgin, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Leonard was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving from 1946-49. He graduated from NIU in 1955. He retired from AT&T as an equipment engineer after 30 plus years of service.
He was a member of American Legion Post #758, Sangamon Valley Woodcarver Club and AT&T Pioneers.
Visitation: 10-11:00 am, Monday, October 10, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Monday, October 10, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Animal Protective League.
