Laverne Fisher, 99, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Keystone Cedars, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by Reverend Ken Glaser. Visitation will be held an hour prior to Mass. There will be a luncheon followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Laverne was born in Walford, Iowa, on December 24, 1925, daughter to Henry and Elizabeth (Boddicker) Schulte. She married Charles Fisher on November 19, 1946, at Holy Trinity Church in Walford. She graduated from Walford High School and Mount Mercy Junior College.

She worked at Wapsie Valley Creamery, Sieg-Cedar Rapids Auto Parts, and retired from Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Company. She was a member and volunteer at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of WFLA Lodge 500 and St. Monicas Circle and volunteer at NCSML Museum for many years.

She was an avid reader, and liked to do crossword puzzles, sew, crochet, and knit. She loved to travel the United States and Europe.

Survivors include her children, Susan (John) Stolba Houser of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Thomas Fisher of Buena Vista, Colorado, Joyce (Greg) Gibney of Lincoln, Nebraska and Laura (Russ) Triplett of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Hannah (Nina) Stolba, Andrew Fisher, Dylan (Christy) Fisher, Riley (Cindy) Fisher, Matt (Michelle) Gibney, Chad Gibney, Sydney Triplett, Samantha Triplett and Erik Triplett; two great-grandchildren, Logan Fisher and Henry Fisher; stepgrandchildren, Dan (Renee) Houser, Kelly Houser, and Mark Houser; five great-grandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; and loving family members on both sides of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Fisher; five brothers; and six sisters.
