Larry Lee Sturtz, 76, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Schanbacher officiating. A luncheon will follow at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment with military rites will be held at the Garrison Cemetery, following the luncheon. Memorials may be directed to Iowa County EMS.

Larry was born on April 19, 1947, in Vinton, the son of John and Elsie (Henkle) Sturtz. He graduated from Norway High School, with the class of 1965. Larry served his country in the U.S. Army.

Larry was a lifelong farmer in the Marengo area. He also raised cattle, as well as trucking and custom bailing. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin’s in rural Marengo. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown and a member of the Norway American Legion Post No. 234. Larry had a fondness for “muscle” cars from the 60s and 70s and enjoyed attending car shows. He also loved the pond on his farm and enjoyed entertaining family and friends there. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor.

Larry is survived by his siblings, LaVonne Karsten of Marengo, Emma Mae Campbell of North English and Delbert (Diane) Sturtz of Cedar Rapids; as well as many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Karsten and Mitchell Campbell; and two great-nephews, Eric Karsten and Nathan Campbell.
