Larry Hamlett
Cedar Rapids
Larry Hamlett, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation: 2 – 4 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a Memorial Service to immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Larry was born February 13, 1950, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Bruce and Bernadine (Heddinger) Hamlett. He graduated from Starmont High School and attended Ellsworth Community College. Larry served his country honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam. On November 25, 2002, Larry was united in marriage to Linda Mae Cudden in Las Vegas. To quote a dear friend, Larry was “a sweet, thoughtful, unassuming man”. He loved attending the grandchildren’s sports and school events. Larry enjoyed fishing, traveling, and meeting new people. He fought an 8-year battle with cancer, but he was strong through it all, or as Wendy would say, “stoic”. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Hamlett of Cedar Rapids; son, David (Dee) Hamlett of Cedar Rapids; mother, Bernadine Hamlett of Manchester, Iowa; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Andrew, and Caden Hamlett; sisters, Darla (David) Kelly of Waterloo, Iowa, Cheryl (Don) Holtz of Manchester, and Kathy (Mike) Simon of Verona, Wisconsin; his first wife, Theresa Hamlett of Cedar Rapids; and Linda’s son, Richard (Wendy) Petruso, Palatine, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Hamlett.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
