Larry Dean Hansen, 85, of Toddville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, surrounded by his family. Larry’s family will lead a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Ushers Ferry Lodge, 5925 Seminole Valley Trail NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52411, followed by a luncheon until 3 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.

Survivors include his children, Dawn (Leon) Wurzer and Larry A. (Juliann) Hansen; stepchildren, Tamera Mouton, Kelli Teel and Eric Tomb (Stacie); grandchildren, Candice Denlinger, Cristian Grady, Josiah Hansen, Faith Hansen, Christopher Johnson, Derek Johnson, Landri Teel and Eastyn Teel; great-grandchildren, Odin, Orion, and Gatlynn Grady; his loving sweetheart, Mary Ann Beene; and many special friends at Riverstone Retirement Community and Christian Life Church.

Larry was born April 5, 1937, the son of Arnold and LaVerna (Gunn) Hansen. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-62. On Aug. 2, 1961, he married Amy Finch in West Virginia. Larry attended airline school and worked in the aviation industry including Central, Ozark, TWA and American Airlines.

On Sept. 28, 2002, he married Carol Boydston in Platte City, Mo. Larry enjoyed canoeing, motorcycle riding, reading, playing pool and, most of all, dancing. Larry could get anyone to dance and have fun. He also attended Christian Life Church.

Larry’s gift of mercy and presence will be greatly missed by all who encountered him. He was full of life with his love and humor. Larry freely gave to anyone needing a hug, extra hand, or words of encouragement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Amy and Carol; and his sister, Shirley Mitchell.
